Maserati is an Italian car manufacturer with the tag line "Luxury, sports and style cast in exclusive cars". The trident being its emblem is based on the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna's Piazza Maggiore. It was adopted on the notion of Neptune’s representation of strength and vigor. It was initially associated with Ferrari S.p.A.
The Maserati Biturbo Spyder convertible top was introduced in 1986. The car was designed and built by Zagato. Plagued by an overloaded electrical system, the Biturbo had a relatively short life span. The later 2002-2003 Maserati Spyder soft top proved to be more successful with such additions as an electronically operated push-button top control and safety roll bars behind the seats. Later in 2004 the Spyder underwent further changes with the introduction of a glass rear window in place of the earlier plastic window convertible top.
