Owned by Tata Motors, Jaguar Cars is headquartered in Whitley, Coventry, England and has been a brand of Jaguar Land Rover since 2008. Prior to the development of passenger cars, it was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company, originally producing motorcycle sidecars starting in 1922.
The decision to change the name to Jaguar was only after World War II. The name change was prompted by the unfavorable connotation of the SS initials. The Jaguar convertible top has been synonymous with luxury ever since. The Jaguar XJS convertible top is one of the world’s most popular luxury sedans and as an icon of the 1960s, the Jaguar E-Type convertible top has proven to be in a class of its own. The Jaguar XKE soft top also remains to be a favorite among classic car collectors.
